If Colossus was My Boyfriend

225px-UltimateColossusAs long as I have been reading comics, (which is longer than I really would like to admit) I have always had one character that has stood out as my absolute favourite.  Colossus of the X-Men, a.k.a. Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin.  That towering Russian hunk of organic steel.  But this is more than just favourites… Infatuation beyond schoolboy crush.  We’re talking full on weak-in-the-knees obsession and take your breath away mania.

I mean, there have been the crushes and the year long fanaticisms, such as Bucky, Superboy, Robin, The Hulkling, and even a lusty fantasy with Ka-Zar – you can see where this is going, right?

Now, there are several reasons for this intense fascination.  I like blonds, but somehow his black widow-peaked hair has this sense of exoticism.  Blue eyes… mine are brown… ’nuff said. Perhaps also, was the fact that growing up, everyone commented at how tall and skinny I was.  “Bean-pole”, “Tall Drink of Water”, and “Lanky”, were all terms that were attributed to me.  I looked to Colossus and saw someone who was tall, handsome and extremely well built.  Everything that I was not.

There were always the intimate fantasies of what would it be like to be held and kissed and be made love to by someone that could increase his size and turn himself into a walking talking mountain of steel.  I could go on, but …

But perhaps it was his intense loyalty to others that drew me in.  With his fondness for the young Kitty Pryde and utter devotion to protect his sister Illyana, his tender side just made me want to love him even more.  The possibilities were brought even closer to home with the Ultimate Man-Loving version of Peter Rasputin and his relationship with Northstar.   I nearly came unglued.

Just imagine what it would be like to be held in his arms and protected from every sort of harm and evil that the universe could throw at you?  But then, I have to wake up from my daydream and realise… He is just a comic book character.  But be that as it may, it certainly does not hurt to have dreams.  If Colossus were my boyfriend… I could die a happy man!
