Rhubarb Zoo’s Entropy

by Thor on October 16, 2009

Entropy Screenshot 4Animation has been a part of my life pretty much … well… my entire life.  Way back when I first saw Disney’s Robin Hood and The Jungle Book in the Cinema (I’m dating myself I know) I realised that talking animals in living colour was one of the greatest experiences known to human kind.  I even tried a hand at stop motion animation in elementary school but discovered that I did not have the patience.  So, kudos to all the animators out there that are able to draw, sculpt, storyboard or program their way through even 10 seconds of celluloid magic.

But I digress…. the real reason for this post is that while catching up on a back-log of Channel Frederator Podcasts I ran across a stunning little piece from Rhubarb Zoo –  a New Zealand based group formed out of the Freelance Animation School in Auckland .  Entropy (RuZu’s second film)  has been out for a while, so forgive me if it is old news, but what struck me is the beauty of their design and storytelling without all the slap-in-the-face tell-you-what-to-feel shtick.  Having said that, I’d rather let the film speak for itself.

For anyone who has ever dreamt of being swept away on moonbeams and mist to escape this present reality, this short gem is for you.
