It’s the Morning after a Halloween weekend, and while I enjoyed Halloween, we (Jamie and I) did not make it to the parade downtown. And since the lingering effects of Halloween are still with me, I thought that I would give my two cents on something reminiscent of the weekend – The Blackest Night. Without a doubt, this event is turning into one of the best series that I have read in a long time. If you do not know what this series is about, where it came from, and where it is headed, you may want to do some research. But to sum it up – imagine Zombies with Power Rings. COMBO!
Some must read titles from the event include:
- Blackest Night
- Green Lantern
- Green Lantern Corps
While I tend to HATE all of the titles that they stick onto a crossover, I am a sucker for buying a lot of them. Out of the crossovers, here are my thoughts on which ones I worth reading or looking into and which ones you could pass on.
- Blackest Night: Batman – PASS!
- Blackest Night: Titan – Read. One word – Terra!
- Blackest Night: Flash – Look into it, but Reverse Flash with a ring. FRACK.
- Blackest Night: Superman – Read. Simply put: pissed off Superman and Superboy going all out!
- Blackest Night: Tales of the Corps – Good background, but I think that I could have missed this one.
- Blackest Night: JSA - Look Into, but may be too many people fighting themselves.
- Blackest Night: Wonder Woman – Read. she may be one of the few that can truly go toe-to-toe with the arch-villain of this event, so I can see here playing a major role in the battle between light and darkness.
I have to give some chops out to DC. Growing up, I was never a DC fan. I usually spent the majority of my earnings on the Marvel titles; however, over the last few years, I have found myself loving and following more and more of the DC books. From the Flash, to the JSA and JLA. From several Batman stories to the Green Lanterns. And I am still not that sure about the whole ‘power ring’ concept. But overall, DC has really been providing some great stories. Granted – they haven’t all been that great, but there is enough there to keep me coming back.
Now, I just want to see the aftermath of the Blackest Night and what comes next. I have a few ideas and thoughts, but we will see.
